Ronald Lybarger
About Ronald
I have been a Decatur Public School Language Arts teacher for 20 years. I have sponsored and facilitated the Veritas Creative Writing Club at Eisenhower High School for the past 16 years as well as coached Poetry Out Loud contestants for the past 13 years. I enjoy writing poetry and cultivating growth in my students.
Poetry is the language of souls and that "soulspeak" creates a wonderful communion of minds and hearts.
Nature and Relationships are my often muses. Exemplifying the Love of God is my passion and speaking Life and Truth into situations and trauma is my mission.
Amused
The muse sits
and holds me in her lap,
runs her long, pale fingers
through my dark hair
and smooths out grey
wrinkles in my soul.
She winds me
simultaneously,
to that climactic point
that I must write,
Or not breathe.
She twirls my hair,
Wrapping and knotting
me around
Her sinew and bone.
She says..
I must...
If I ever want to feel her lips
against mine,
her hair tickle my forehead,
as she leans over me
and stamps memories
against my hips
like a printing press
with typeset smashing down
Gothic Font
Black and Thick
into darkling ink,
Then,
imprinting my skin,
then raising up
thick with new words
that can poison,
or cure
the blank page.
