The Journey
Then came the day other Brother, now unwell,
To his remote wooded home gave invite.
How joyous, yet uncertain they set out
Across the Mississippi, and to the south;
Ebullient Beanie helped them break the spell
Of unknown ways down smaller roads and drives;
Past hayfield, hill and cabin; southeasterly route,
Until the trees around the car did crowd ...
And even from their limbs, like ghostly sentries,
There hung, while watching down, stuffed monkeys?
But past those eerie dolls and close foliage,
The pine trees thinned to set the final stage
With large A-frame emerging from the woods;
Evident, it was, other Brother did make good.
